Ashley–a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend–will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
In Memory
Ashley McLean Irving, 34, passed away on June 24, 2025. A celebration of life ceremony will take place on October 3 at St Luke's Church in McLean, Virginia. Ashley, born on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1990, was a happy, funny, and unique friend to many, the daughter of Ann McLean, Marty Irving, and Janet Irving, and a beloved sister to Andrew Irving. Ashley grew up in McLean, VA, and enjoyed spending her summers in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and Block Island, Rhode Island, with family and close friends.
For high school, Ashley attended Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania, where she made lifelong friends and thrived in a small, caring community. Ashley later attended Elon University, majoring in Communications while captaining and organizing the school's club lacrosse team. Ashley settled in Arlington, Virginia, where she worked in hospitality, becoming a manager within the Hilton hotel system. Outside of work, Ashley spent many days with close friends who enjoyed her quick wit and laughter. Ashley happily supported her mother, Ann, in almost any venture — such as trying new restaurants, meeting new people, and even yarn-bombing her entire neighborhood — before Ann passed away in 2020.
In 2020, Ashley moved to Denver, where she enjoyed being outdoors, skiing, and hiking with friends. Ashley loved dogs and cared deeply for Bear, Winnie, and Chowder. Despite her distance from DC, Ashley's loyalty to the Washington Capitals never wavered. Ashley loved attending games with friends and especially with her dad, Marty, and her family and always rooted for the Caps, even after her favorite player, Nicholas Backstrom, retired.
She will be deeply missed by all of those she loved and those who loved her, especially her father, Marty Irving, and her stepmother, Janet Irving (of Dunn Loring, VA), her brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Caite Irving (of Needham, MA), and their three sons, Ashley's nephews, Theodore, Charlie, and Quinn Irving.
